"Shoreline"

"Shoreline"  Oil on Hardboard  18" x 40"
A couple of years ago, my son gave me a memorable Christmas gift. A day with only him doing something he had planned and it was going to be a surprise to me until the last minute. I had no clue and I love to figure out mysteries. On Dec. 26th, we went to lunch and then he told me we were going Whale Watching! I was so excited. Then I thought, oh no, I'm going to enjoy that delicious lunch again over the side of the boat. To my surprise there were no white caps, no huge waves. The ocean was very calm, like glass. Perfect! This painting is my memory of gazing inland from a mile or so off shore. A storm was rolling by, but it never rained. Dense clouds cast shadows on the land. Whale Watching is magical!
